by Josh McCrohon @JoshMcCrohon57CM Punk did a lot in wrestling: he was the longest reigning WWE champion in the modern era, he made his territory known In Ring Of Honor and became the first man to not only win 2 Money in the Bank’s, but cash them in both successfully. However, after the Royal Rumble 2014, he took what seemed at the time like a short leave of absence. A few months later however, it began to seem unlikely he’d return to the promotion at all! WWE fired CM Punk in July that year - which so happened to be on the man’s wedding day. It wouldn’t be until that December that Punk signed with the biggest MMA organisation on the planet: UFC. So what happened next? CM Punk started training the following month and didn’t make his debut in the octagon until September the year after. He fought Mickey Gall in the Welterweight division which he lost after just over two minutes due to submission. Not the ideal debut I’m sure you’ll agree! So now the question is: What happens next? It isn’t announced when (or possibly if) his next fight will take place but speculation is a thing of beauty, so let’s see what fights he could possibly have if he chooses to continue his career. 5. Jim WallheadWallhead has a MMA record of 29 wins and 11 losses - his last loss coming to Luna Chagas at UFC 212 in June. Wallhead currently competes in the UFC Welterweight division, and conveniently so does Punk! This fight will get media attention as CM Punk is a surprisingly big name in the company, which will also benefit Wallhead in the grander scheme of things. 4. Matt BrownBrown has had a rather successful UFC journey, with notable wins in his career, most recently being Diego Sanchez who he TKO’ed in the first round just last month. This would be a great fight Punk vs. Brown. Although, I think Punk should have easier competition after his first fight being a loss. 3. Bobby NashI believe that Nash might be the perfect opponent for Punk in the Welterweight division, as Nash has lost all 3 of his Welterweight fights. Nash isn’t that big of a threat to Punk, so I think it could go either way and that just makes the fight bigger. Therefore, it’s more exciting to watch. 2. CB DallowayNext, we are moving to the Middleweight division as I think Punk could handle the jump. His first fight? CB Dollaway. Dollaway has recently defeated Ed Herman on the Ultimate Fighter 25 prelims, so he certainly has credibility as a fighter. Would this be a fight worth watching though? Absolutely. 1. Max GriffinGriffin has been in the UFC since 2016 and has had 3 fights in the Welterweight division, and in that time has suffered 2 losses but has 1 win under his belt. Griffin isn’t the most popular fighter ever so this fight would boost his popularity, and his exposure, by thousands. Do you agree with this list? Sound off below! I’ve been Josh and I’m going to write a boxing article now!
