by Josh McCrohon @JoshMcCrohon57As the new year approaches, so do new opportunities. There aren’t too many fights confirmed for the highly anticipated year of 2018, but there are some dream fights which people will definitely want to witness! Join me as I count down the 10 dream fights which 2018 could potentially have in store for UFC fans! 10. Chris Weidman vs. Anderson SilvaThis fight has actually happened before, in fact it has actually taken place twice! Both fights happened in 2013 and both fights had Weidman take the win. It would be interesting to see this fight take place for the third time in 2018, 5 whole years after their last. Of course it would be easy to predict, as Silva has reached the age of 42 and passed his prime YEARS ago, but he does have fight left in the tank, I’m sure. Prediction: Chris Weidman 9. Corey Anderson vs. Daniel CormierI see this fight requested by a lot of people. Personally, I wouldn’t want to see this fight as Anderson has lost his last 2 fights and his most recent win was last December against Sean O’Connell. What surprises me more about people wanting to see this fight is that Anderson is curently 8th in the rankings for the Light Heavyweight Championship, in what way does he deserve a title shot? Prediction: Daniel Cormier 8. Frankie Edgar vs. Jose AldoAnother fight I’ve seen heavily demanded is Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar. This fight hasn’t happened once, but twice. Aldo has won both due to unanimous decision. Prediction: Jose Aldo 7. Tyron Woodley vs. Nate DiazDiaz hasn’t fought in the UFC since August 2016 and Tyron Woodley is the current Welterweight Champion. The UFC has been trying to book a fight between the two for months with the fight provisionally for UFC 219 on December 30th. However, Woodley is accusing Diaz of making excuses. Predictions: Nate Diaz 6. Kevin Gastelum vs. George St. PierreThese two men have both recently defeated Michael Bisping, the former Middleweight Champion. George St. Pierre vacated the Middleweight title only a few days ago due to him saying that he needs to focus on his health, but I think it’s for certain that we’ll see him back in the octagon again soon! If he does comes back, I want to see him fight Gastelum. If not him, then Whittaker, but I think this is likely to happen. Gastelum vs. St. Pierre will definitely be a banger. Prediction: George St. Pierre 5. Tony Ferguson vs. Conor McGregorThe Lightweight Champion vs. the Interim Champion, it’s bound to happen at some point in 2018! This is more of a case of when more than if. This will be a really good fight and will go past the 3rd round without a doubt! Prediction: Conor McGregor 4. Demetrious Johnson vs. TJ DillashawDana White has said that this fight is likely to happen as they both have championships. After Dillashaw knocked out Cody Garbrandt, he called out the current Flyweight champion to a fight. Johnson has reportedly been begging for a big fight and Dillashaw is apparently that fight. Predation: Demetrious Johnson 3. Demetrious Johnson vs. Cody GarbrandtJohnson is the dream fight machine and a fight against the former Batamweight Champion will be a fight to remember. Garbrandt is a cracking fighter and this will be a big money fight. This will be a belter. Prediction: Cody Garbrandt 2. Amanda Nunes vs. Holly HolmNunes is the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion and has never fought Holly Holm. Holm is fighting Cyborg at UFC 219 for the UFC Featherweight title. Preduction: Holly Holm 1. Connor McGregor vs. Nate DiazI’m a man who believes in trilogies: If there’s a fight and someone wins, and if they have a rematch and the other fighter wins, they need a final match! Nate Diaz beat McGregor with a choke hold. Later that year, McGregor beat Diaz via decision. Will this happen? I don’t know. Diaz said on twitter: “UFC offered me title fight in any weight class Im kool though I’ll givem a shot when they do something good onto the next sport 🥊🥊” I do think this fight will happen. Prediction: Nate Diaz Do you agree with the fights I mentioned? Do you agree with my predictions? What fights do you want to see in 2018? Sound off below!
